Light The Night

&

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

On August 22nd 2008 I lost my Mother two short months after an Advanced Stage 4 Lymphoma Diagnosis.  She spent approximately 3yrs before this with various specialists trying to figure out why her health was declining.  March 15th 2008 my first son was born and she was in the hospital less than 2 weeks later.  She quickly declined and in June received the Lymphoma Diagnosis. The 5 months between my sons birth and losing my mom were supposed to be the most joyous as a new mother, however that was hard as I was losing my very own mother.  I became a new mother and Motherless Mother within 5 short months.

In 2011 after the birth of my daughter and my Mom not being there I vowed to make a difference.  Just one short month before the 2012 walk I had created the team Janes Angels and started raising funds.  My team was able to raise $432 and I vowed to do make a bigger impact in 2013.  I wanted to help step out cancer.  There is no reason I should've been left a Motherless Mother so quickly and unexpectedly.  If my fundraising efforts can help one daughter live a longer life with her mother, or one mother live a longer life with their child battling leukemia then I will have done my part.

Light The Night helps support life saving research, medical payments for uninsured patients, informational packets, and new medical advances.  It is a night filled with fun, friends, fireworks, food and festivities.  It is both a celebration of the advances being made, as well as a remembrance for those we have lost and that are battling.
